Wedding
(Aldermaston)
Recently,
The
Flying Squad were honoured enough to be asked to fly at the wedding
of Adrian and Andrea. We were a little nervous as this was to
be
our first appearance at a wedding. Determined to put on a great show,
we all arrived early on Saturday morning to get a little practice in
before the big event.
Although we had checked out the site before the event, we were all a
little daunted when we arrived to find a field smaller than a football
pitch surrounded on three sides by 150 feet tall trees and on the
fourth side by a large and impressive mansion. This was going
to
be a challenge for our collective skills!
After much effort and climbing of fences (there was a tennis court in
the middle of the flying field!) we finally got up an impressive
display of single line kites ready to greet the guests as
they
arrived. Having worked very hard to get these kites flying,
we
were delighted when we were asked to leave them flying during the meal.
After the meal and speeches (much laughing could be heard from inside)
the guests came out onto the "field". With the guests of honour seated,
the Team put on a private kite festival for the guests complete with
commentary from the famous Paul Reynolds and a brand new ballet written
for the occasion. After the various demo's, the Team made way for the
guests to fly the kites which they did happily until a light shower
sent everyone into the bar.
We had a fabulous time, even though it was hard work, and all the
guests went away feeling a little younger at heart. A big
thanks
to all those who helped on the day (that's you Alec) and the Bride and
Groom for sharing their very special day with us.
